Learning Impact: Beyond Training Hours
Measuring learning impact remains a persistent challenge for organisations, particularly where success is reported through participation, completion and training hours. This article examines learning effectiveness through organisational purpose, learning transfer and shared accountability, arguing that learning’s value should be assessed through what employees subsequently apply, improve and contribute. It explores how leaders, people managers, HR and employees can translate learning into capability, and proposes a Learning Effectiveness Report to document that contribution. Such reporting can bring together evidence of changes in workplace practice, service, innovation and productivity, while recognising that learning is one of several influences on organisational and community outcomes.
